Research Interests

P1010662
I am a lecturer in Human Geography at Staffordshire University, UK and a research fellow of the Globalisation and World Cities research network based at Loughborough University, UK.

My research interests can be broadly placed under the following theme:

Urban Cultural Geographies

I am an urban geographer with research interests in urban cultural geographies and global cities, centred on the cultural and creative economy.

I am especially interested in:

• Culturally creative clusters and their knowledge networks, within and between cities.
• The spaces of cultural creativity within cities.
• Creative labour and the fostering of cultural creativity within cities.
• The role of cultural and creative industries in the competiveness and sustainability of cities.
• The dynamics and performance of small-medium size creative enterprises.

Alongside the above, I have also conducted research as part of GaWC into the networked urban geographies of the Global Media.

My research has a particular focus on the music industry.
